Elizabeth Haas

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and have been practicing psychotherapy for over 20 years. My work focuses on adolescents and young adults, as well as adults in general. I am also skilled as a family therapist. My interests include numerous clinical issues, such as; relationship and family challenges, stress management, anxiety and depression, eating disorders, the complexity of adolescence, parenting challenges, a variety of women’s issues, and adult life transitions. These interests have led me into many environments over the years, although I am now exclusively in private practice in Newton Center.

I enjoy the process of building a trusting relationship with each client that focuses on your unique strenths and needs. Each therapeutic relationship is supportive, collaborative, and interactive. The process of recognizing that there is something you want to change, to enhance, or perhaps to resolve is an exciting one! In our work together we will be discovering things about you, as well as helping you to develop tools for better coping. We will explore the patterns of behavior that have helped you as well as those that may have hindered you. We will create new strategies to better manage stress, to help improve relationships, or to improve your emotional balance.

Some of the techniques we may employ include mindfulness based approaches, cognitive and behavioral therapies, and interpersonal psychodynamic approaches. Psychotherapy is a process built upon the trusting relationship that we will develop. I look forward to meeting you and beginning this process together.
