Annie Weiss

My goal is to help you have better relationships: with others, and with yourself.  I work with adults who seek healthier work/life balance, satisfying relationships, and better tools to handle stress, depression, anxiety and excessive guilt.

With warmth and flexibility, I will collaborate actively with you to resolve self-limiting beliefs and habits, develop your resources, and create more effective and meaningful personal and professional relationships.

Areas of expertise include: interpersonal difficulties, stress management, parenting and caretaking issues, young adult development and midlife adjustment.

In addition to individual therapy, I lead interpersonal psychotherapy groups for adults who want to develop better relationships, more self confidence, better communication skills and a greater sense of ease with others:

Interpersonal/ IFS Psychotherapy Groups:
These lively, warm, engaging groups provide a powerful and effective setting to explore and resolve the patterns that limit satisfaction in peer, romantic, professional or family relationships.
Wednesdays 7-8:15 pm, or Wednesdays 8:30-9:45 pm

Monthly Consultation Groups:
IFS Consultation Group, 1st Monday 10-11:30 am
Individual/Group Therapy Consultation Group, 2nd Wednesday 11:30-1 pm

Along with my clinical and supervisory practice in Newton Center, I teach in the postgraduate training program at the Boston Institute for Psychotherapy (BIP), co-leading an observed therapy group with Scott Rutan. I am the Group Consultant at the Brookline Community Mental Health Center, am on the training faculty for the Northeastern Society for Psychotherapy (NSGP), and taught graduate students in counseling for ten years at Boston College.  As the former Director of Social Work at the Marino Center for Progressive Health, I maintain an interest in mindfulness and integrative health. I am a Certified Group Therapist, have completed a 3-level Internal Family Systems training, and a mindfulness based stress reduction training program. I present locally and nationally on topics including parenting issues, women & self care and integrating Internal Family Systems (IFS) with interpersonal/psychodynamic group psychotherapy.
